Organisation

Tempera Mente is a professional early music ensemble founded in 2024 by six musicians from across Europe. The ensemble sings music that tempers the mind and moves the soul. Having sung together in leading early music ensembles, its members founded Tempera Mente to forge their own path through the musical worlds of the past. The ensemble strikes a balance between individual expression and harmonious blend, guided by a curiosity about music, performance practice, and historical context — and how all of this resonates today.

Board

Stichting Tempera Mente is governed by an independent board that bears responsibility for and oversight of all the foundation's activities. Board members receive no remuneration for their work; expenses may be reimbursed.

Mission

Stichting Tempera Mente exists to serve the public interest by promoting, advancing, and sharing classical music. To this end, the foundation supports the activities of the Tempera Mente collective, a professional ensemble dedicated to the performance of early music.

The foundation pursues in particular:

  • the recovery and reappraisal of lesser-known classical music, by drawing connections between historical and contemporary contexts;
  • the performance of concerts, recordings, and residencies in the Netherlands and abroad;
  • collaboration with non-conventional concert venues such as museums and outdoor locations;
  • an educational role for classical music, including for younger audiences.

The foundation is non-profit. Any surplus is reinvested entirely in pursuit of its mission. In the event of dissolution, any remaining assets will be transferred to a public benefit organisation with a mission as closely aligned as possible to that of the foundation.

Remuneration Policy

Board members receive no remuneration for their board duties. Members of the collective may receive project-based fees for artistic and/or organisational work. The foundation ensures that fees remain proportionate to its mission and available resources.
